Assistant Conductor

Greg Rainville, B. Mus., M. Mus.


Greg has emerged as a promising conductor, vocal coach, and music educator.  His skills and experiences stretch into several facets of the music industry, allowing him to be a versatile leader and musician.   Greg  works extensively with church choirs, live theatre, and voice students as conductor, vocal  coach, chorister, and soloist throughout the Toronto area and beyond.

In 2008, Greg became the Assistant Conductor of the Orpheus Choir of  Toronto under the direction of renowned Canadian choral director Robert  Cooper. He has taken part in conducting master classes with German conductor  Helmuth Rilling as part of the 2006 and 2007 Toronto International Bach  Festivals.
Greg has also sung with the Bach Festival singers under Maestro  Rilling with performances at the University of Toronto and with the Toronto Symphony.  Greg conducts frequently at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church in his  position as Choral Intern, under Music Director William Maddox. In October  2009, Greg will conduct the Canadian Premiere of Otto Nicolai's Messe in D (1832)  with the YPBC Choir, Soloists, and orchestra.

Recently Greg completed a Master's Degree in Conducting at the  University of Toronto, after previously completing a Bachelor's Degree in Music  Education and Voice at the highly accredited Crane School of Music in Potsdam, New York.   Greg is twice recipient of the Elmer Iseler Fellowship in  Conducting at the University of Toronto.

Greg has been honored to work and study with such conductors and  educators as Dr. Doreen Rao, Raffi Armenian, Agnes Grossman, Helmuth Rilling,  Robert Cooper, Dr. Daniel Gordon, and Dr. Christopher Lanz.
