Philip Kalmanovitch
He is a founding member of Open Corps Theatre, a Toronto-based collaborative theatre company which performed two sold-out productions of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. Mr. Kalmanovitch completed his Diploma in Operatic Performance with Honours at the University of Toronto where he studied with Jo-Anne Bentley. He is a 2009-2010 Sidgwick Scholar for the Orpheus Choir of Toronto, and a laureate of the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques program.
David Ross
Now in Toronto, David studies with Jean MacPhail and has worked with The Toronto Bach Festival, Toronto Bach Consort and the new Toronto Choral Artists, in addition to his commitment to Orpheus as a Sidgwick Scholar. Alongside his choral, musical theatre, oratorio and recital pursuits, David has played the roles of Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Antonio in Le Nozze di Figaro and was recently cast in the upcoming world premiere of R. Murray Schafer's opera A Children's Crusade.
Michael Robert-Broder
On the operatic stage Michael has portrayed Il Conte and Papegeno from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and Die Zauberflöte, Lescaut in Massenet’s Manon, Ben and Bob in Menotti’s The Telephone and The Old Maid and the Thief, Tarquinius in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia. Upcoming engagements include Belcore and Malatesta in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore and Don Pasquale, Brahms’s Ein Deutsch Requiem, Fauré’s Requiem, Bach’s St. John Passion, Achilla in Handel’s Giulio Cesare, and the title role in Paulson’s Verlaine.

Baritone Philip Kalmanovitch is a versatile performer currently based in Toronto. He has appeared in several operas, notably Puccini’s La Bohème, Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Ravel’s L’Heure Espagnole, and Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia. Outside of opera, Mr. Kalmanovitch has appeared in dozens of plays and musicals, including his professional debut for the Thousand Islands Playhouse.
Baritone David Ross has quickly become a regular fixture of the Toronto choral community since his arrival in June 2008. While in the prairies, David studied with Ron de Jager and performed regularly throughout western Canada. As an ensemble member of RuBarb Productions his roles included Carriere in Kopit and Yeston's Phantom (2006), Gilbert Blythe in Anne of Green Gables (2007), and Beast in Disney's Beauty and the Beast (2007) where he was described as "engaging and delightful!" For his compelling recital work, he was awarded the Harding Memorial Scholarship by the Saskatchewan Music Festival Association in 2008 for Best Performance by a Vocalist.
A native of Vancouver, baritone Michael Robert-Broder enjoys the recital stage and has performed the major song cycles of Schubert, Schumann, and Mahler. He studied the mélodie with French baritone François le Roux, and has made a special part of his recital the melodies of Francis Poulenc. A fierce exponent of contemporary song, Michael championed the songs of Benjamin Britten, Ned Rorem, Lee Hoiby, William Bolcom, Ricky Ian Gordon, David del Tredici, John Musto, and Jake Heggie. Of particular interest to Michael are the cabaret songs of the interwar periods in Germany and France.
