Orpheus presents the premiere of No Mortal Business,
by renowned Canadian
composer Allan Bevan.
Based on Shakespeare’s last major work, The Tempest,
Bevan blends majestic trumpet fanfares, military drums,
Gregorian chant, narration, organ, choir and orchestra
into a lyrical large-scale creation rich
in illusion and meaning.
Together with Beethoven’s powerful and dramatic
Mass in C Major
,
this uplifting concert will both surprise and enchant!

“The Orpheus Choir presentation of silent film and choral music was most exciting…the visuals did not divert my attention from the splendid array of French choral music.  The sound of the choir was excellent in that acoustic.   Their obvious involvement in the whole experiment resulted in a spirited performance.  Well done!"
